The north eastern states of
India have reported cases of chloroquine resistant P. falciparum malaria. Therefore,
visitors to these areas are recommended the following prophylaxis, in addition to all the personal protection measures against mosquito bites.
Pregnant women and babies and young children are advised against visiting these areas.
Mefloquine is recommended as
the first choice. The dosage and regimen is given below:
